Hamlet-Scene 1

At the beginning of the Olivier version, they said "Hamlet: the story of the man who couldn't make up his mind..."
So far, which issues is he conflicted with? What can you predict in Hamlet's future?

Hamlet is conflicted with many issues. First, Hamlet is caught between his religion and loyalty to his father. He wants to avenge his fathers death but it is condsidered a sin to kill others. Also, Hamelt is in a battle vs. himself. He is debating whether he should take his life or kill his uncle. Once again this dilema is hard for Hamlet because both killing himself or Claudies is considered a sin and will have him denyed from Heaven. Hamlet has seen battles of man vs. man and man vs. himself.

I can see Hamlet murdering his uncle because he will let his emotions take over his sense of right and wrong. I think this will cause Hamlet to go crazy and also end up killing himself. I think he will not live much longer and this story will show all that are selfish will be taken over by greed, which is considered one of the seven deadly sins.

Hamlet's main conflict is internal; his own morals are conflicting with his desire to avenge his father's death. His royal status has taught him the importance and power of camaraderie any loyalty, and he is now faced with the decision of whether or not to kill his uncle.

I predict Hamlet succeed in killing his uncle.

Hamlet is conflicting with many things, a rather big one is the avenging of his fathers death. It is considered a sin to kill, so he's battling with his emotions. Hamlet is also having conflicting emotions with his mother, how could she move past heis father so quickly? why is she not mourning like him? I think there is also the conflict of killing himself, or killing his uncle, either way it is a sin. Hamlet seems very torn over life itself, the taking of it and the living of it. The complexity of it all.

I can see Hamlet becoming so absorbed in his emmoions and grief that he actually becomes mentally unstable, i can see him killing his uncle and being driven even deeper into his insanity, i'm not sure whether or not he'll keep himself alive because after avenging his father and taking the throne it would seem like he would have everything. but at the same time i could see him killing himself because he feels so guilty and sad for commiting a crime like that.

So far Hamlet is a character that cannot make up his mind on many different occasions and it’s only the end of Scene 1. Hamlet is torn over the fact that his Father was killed and his Uncle Claudius and his mother Gertrude have already remarried after a month of the death. He faces his first tough decision weather he should kill himself and commit a sin of murder or keep living without his father. He also cannot make up his mind when it comes to his mother and to decide if she was part of his father’s death or not because of her suspicious behavior. Hamlet cannot decide to kill his Uncle and commit sin or to let it be and keep his emotions under control. I do think that Hamlet will have something to do with the death of Claudius, not necessarily him killing but maybe having someone do it for him.

Hamlet is having a lot of conflicts in the first act. First off, his father is dead and very soon after his death, his mother marries his uncle. Then he finds out that his uncle murdered his father and he has to avenge this death. He is depressed and is told that it is "unmanly" to grieve for so long. Hamlet cannot make up his mind over whether or not to kill his uncle. It is a sin to kill him but he wants to do it for his father.

I predict that Hamlet kills his uncle. He has a lot of devotion to his father, which is seen through his long grieving period. He will want to avenge his father's death and let his soul rest in peace.

Hamlet is going to have some serious problems he is one seeing and speaking to ghosts. Hamlet is in emotional pain right now because of his fathers death and because his uncle took over when Hamlet was supposed to become king. The ghost told him that his greedy uncle killed his father so now he is freaking out whether not to kill his uncle, but if he does it is going against his religion. In the end I think Hamlet will kill his uncle and dip out.

Hamlet is conflicted with the choices he has to make. First, how to approach the new king, his uncle, and his marriage to his mother so soon after his father's death. His father's death is also another issue in his life; Hamlet doesn't know how to take out his confusion and grief. After scene 1, Hamlet is even more confused because of the ghost telling him that he must avenge his father. But how will he go about this is the question that is running through Hamlet's mind. Murder would be unholy, but it is only fair.

I predict death in the royal castle of Denmark. Hamlet will have to keep his promise to avenge his father and to find a way to end his grieving once and for all. I believe the only way he can do this is through murder (an eye for an eye).

Well obviously Hamlet has some issues concerning his Father and Uncle. These have been discussed fairly thoroughly and I will not flatter myself into thinking that saying this again will win me a better grade. Instead I shall speak of Hamlet's love life thus far.
From what we have heard of it so far, which, granted, inst alot, we can determine a couple things. Ophelia really likes Hamlet. Hamlet may or may not like Ophelia as much as he lets on, at least thats what her father wants her to think. And lets face it, Hamlet does have other things on his mind; murder, revenge, all rather trivial but time consuming none the less. So Ophelia likes Hamlet, Hamlet probably likes her back. But before we start the wedding bells a ringin, we need to clear one more thing up: Ophelia isn't royalty, Hamlet is, thats bad news bears folks. They cant get married, they cant even have a public relationship. Whats a poor little prince to do when he cant marry his sweetheart? He could take the emo road and kill himself. He could change the law, but then he would have to be king. Or he could ditch the girl. Not the best of options, especially if you add in the revenge bit. It sucks to be you, Hamlet. My money is on suicide, he seems the type.

Hamlet has been a victim of not knowing what to believe or what to do about what hes been told. He has been told to kill his uncle to avenge his fathers death that the ghost informed him was because of Claudius, his uncle. He cannot seem to find himself and seems to not be able to determine what is truly the right thing to do. Avenge his fathers death and commit a sin against his religion or let his fathers death be and his uncle be the ruler of his rightful empire.

Hamlet has things that are not only messing with his mind, but also providing alot of issues. He has to fight with religion and loyalty to decide whether he is going to kill for his father. He is battleing himself because he knows that if he kills his religion will send him to hell and if he doesnt kill then his fathers loyalty will be taken for grantid. I relly think that Hamlet is going to kill his uncle because the ghost telling him to do this seems to have a huge power over him and religion will take a back seat. He will think about his father when killing his uncle and not his faith.

We can predict that he can not make up his mind about whether or not he wants to kill his uncle to revenge his father and to get the throne back which is rightfully his.

What we can predict in Hamlet's future is that no matter what he decides to do, something is going to happen because Hamlet is a tradgidy and something bad always happens in tradgidies. Also you can predict that Hamlet is going to kill his uncle and something is going to happen to his mother because the ghost said let fate deal with her.

In the first scene, Hamlet is a character of much sadness and depression for the loss of his father. However, I don't think that he has been conflicted at all so far in the story since all he has done is heard how his father was killed. He decides right away to kill his Uncle, without thinking about it twice. Since his 'father' told him to do so, Hamlet decided right away with the promise to remember his father, to kill his uncle Claudius. Hamlet has not had trials so far other than this decision, so this quote do not make sense yet.

The are many conflicts that this quote is describing. Hamlet contemplates suicide but doesn't know because of his religious beliefs. Hamlet doesn't know if it is bad for him to be grieving this long about the death of his father. Hamlet doesn't know weather to kill his uncle or not. It seems like all of his conflicts are based on religion and he wouldn't have these problems if he wasn't as religious. I think in his future Hamlet will become crazy because of all the problems he has to deal with and the choices he has to make

on one hand Hamlet is a very religious person, so his loyalty lies with God so therefore he cannot kill his uncle because murder is a sin. but on the other hand, he also has loyalties with his father, the true king. his father took time out of his busy day to come to hamlet and tell him to avenge the murdered kings death. ghosts just dont apear for no reason so there must be a good reason Papa Hamlet would come and say this.

Hamlet has been divided by many standards so far. His internal thoughts about religion and revenge are the main conflicting issue present in scene one. His mind has been bouncing from killing to revenge his father which is distorting his views on religion. This is creating a battle within fighting morals and ethics with self satisfaction. The test is how hamlet is going to react to these conflicting issues. I believe he is going to revenge his father’s death by killing. This will create more of a dramatic tone to the story.

Hamlet is obviously conflicted about whether or not he should carry out with his "father's" wishes of avenging him by killing his uncle. I predict that he will end up kiling his uncle due to the face that he is so torn by his father's death.
People always tend to do the more extreme thing when under pressure, especially when it is all in their head.

so far, i think that Hamlet is conflicted mainly about the fact that his father died, yet the throne is not his now. It now belongs to the selfish man who his mother married a mere month after the death of his father. And to add conflict on to this conflict, Hamlet doesnt know what to do about it. He doesnt want to sit back and do nothing, but would he kill someone to "right" things and avenge his fathers death and to make himself king?
In Hamlet's future, I predict that there will be stress and sorrow. If he does do something drastic like killing Claudius, or even if he doesn't, he is going to be upset. Im not sure that at this point that there is really any way that this play can have a happy ending.

Basically, Hamlet is presented with an innumeral amount of things he needs to choose and through out the play it is shown that he can't make up his mind. He has to choose whether or not he will accept his mother now that she married Claduis, he has to choose whether or not he is to kill his father's supposed killer. He also is conflicted with his feelings for Ophelia. Also he is conflicted with the issue of who can he trust with his secrets.

In hamlet's future I think there will be more inconclusive choices. Hamlet won't be able to take a side on the issues and I think that will be his downfall, indecision.

Hamlet has many conflictions in his life. His public display of grief is conflicted; Hamlet is devastated by his father's death, but it is socially unacceptable for a man to show so much emotion. Another major confliction playing out in his life is his mother's marriage to his uncle. It can be assumed that Hamlet holds a great affection for his mother, and wants her to be happy. However, it’s clear that her remarrying so quickly, especially to his uncle, disgusts and angers Hamlet; in many of the scenes, he cannot stand to be around her. Act 1 ends with another confliction for Hamlet: should he avenge his father's death or not? Hamlet would gladly avenge his father’s murder, but I’m unsure if he would go as far as to kill someone to do it.
In Hamlet's future, I predict that he will be confronted with a major inner battle. I think Hamlet will have to battle with what is the right thing to do, or what his heart wants him to do. I think this inner battle will drive Hamlet to go mad, and ultimately lead to his death.
